I thought I would share with you why I named my blog 4Walls and A View. The obvious part, of course, is the 4Walls which is where a majority of my life takes place. I was very lucky when I moved back to Tulsa and downsized to a one bedroom. I was able to get an apartment in my favorite complex which comes with the incredible view that I adore.
I also was able to…
get an open-concept-type apartment – loft like- so more space and less walls, which I love. In addition, I have hard wood floors throughout except for the bedroom and the kitchen has all stainless steel appliances. Love that!
So the 4Walls concept isn’t too hard to grasp. However, I thought I would help you ‘see’ my view which was the number one reason for my living here. I love water. I was born on the French Riviera and think water became an innate part of who I am at a very young age.
I have lived near many bodies of water from Ipswich, England and the River Gipping (I believe that’s correct); San Antonio, Texas, not too far from the Gulf; on the Coast of Maine where I did my daily runs in High School along the waters edge; and even lived in the Virgin Island for 6 months among some of the most amazing blue water I have ever seen. I just can’t get enough of the water. That has become one greatest hopes and dreams – to ‘retire’ on the water’s edge.
Anyway, here are some photos I took at dusk of my view so you could ‘see’ it for yourself. [You can click on the photo to enlarge it. Note: I took these on my cell so the enlarged photo might be a little grainy.]
1. This is a photo at dusk when the skies goes from pink to this incredible blue. It almost looks like day time but it is around 6pm-ish. In addition, the round building is my favorite building in Tulsa. An interesting fact about the building is that is was architecturally designed by a computer. Is that cool or what?
2. This is a long shot of the 21st Bridge in Tulsa. This is where the town does our Fourth of July fireworks display and where I take some of my abstract photography.
3. In this shot, night is starting to descend so I was able to capture some of the lights, the water, and downtown Tulsa.
4. This is another shot, earlier, of downtown Tulsa at dusk. Also, in the middle of the river, you can see some land. This is a protected Bird Sanctuary. I have become quite the bird watcher as a result!
5. And last but not least, this one was taken just as the sky turned from pink to the blue color. You can still see a tinge of pink in the sky. Oklahoma has some of the most incredible pink colors at dusk time. I will have to capture it and show you some day soon. The Canadian Geese often hang out in the water here throughout the year, as well as, Sea gulls, cranes, and other birds. We even have a red fox family and several possums. [I met a possum face to face once several years ago - don't ever want to go there again. They are not nice when cornered! LOL]
6. This last one is not of my view, but one I took to put a smile on your face and add some sunshine to your day.
So, now when I talk about, or describe my view, you can ‘see’ it in your mind’s eye!
Determined to continue forward,

Beautiful view, Dominique! Thanks so much for the ‘tour’. It does help to have pictures to go along with descriptions.
That would be so cool to watch the birds and have such an up close view. Such beautiful sky colours!
I too love the water….we live right on the Atlantic Ocean…which I love. I spent most of my life land locked….so this is all new to me. I especially enjoy the icebergs when they come by…but watching the whales play is pretty cool too.
Linda – Oh my gosh! Watching the Whales and icebergs float by! Holy cow that would be too cool!
Great pictures, Dominique. Tulsa really does have some beautiful sights.

Larry – Thanks! Hope things are getting better for you all.
Lovely, lovely view. I expect it changes subtly all the time. Fantastic.

Jo – It does- You should see it in the fall! Wow!
Beautiful photos, Dominique! Having a nice view and access to nature is so important for those of us who spend so much time within our 4 Walls, isn’t it? Your apartment sounds wonderful!
I’m paying for my victorious trip to the grocery store yesterday – ugh. Your gorgeous pictures perked me up!

Sue – I’m so sorry. Gosh I hate that payback! Errrr! I’m glad the photos perked you up though!
Beautiful view! I feel fortunate to have a view of my backyard from a floor to ceiling window right next to the bed. From there I can watch birds, not a great variety, but still wild animals! When I think of some of the bedrooms I’ve lived in over the years, bedrooms with no windows or a window looking out on a wall, I feel fortunate to have this view.
Thanks so much for the pictures.
Toni – Yeah! I need to be able to see out! Anything is better than nothing! You’re welcome.
Oh what a beautiful view Dominique…and to see nature, and sunsets liek you shared here….WOW! I enjoy the water too…my favorite place to visit when we could travel was Lake Superior and the Duluth area. Love that cold, rough, vast lake and all it shares with those around it. I have a few pictures of it framed and hung in the house here. Our view is nice too, not any water and the houses just too close for my comfort, and yet, it is a nice view from a large window and patio doors so I know I am blessed to have it. So glad you have a view that blesses your heart every day.

Renee –
Very nice views, Dominique. And, I like your apartment lay out. Lofts are beautiful even if the square footage is relatively small. Higher ceilings and sunlight make them seem so very roomy.

Matt – Thanks. I don’t have the high ceilings but I have the open space. The living room, dining room, and kitchen are one space with a half wall around the kitchen. I love it! You are right. It makes it feel much bigger.!
thanks for posting, getting to know you in little itisy bitsy pieces!!! you are blessed to have the place you have. are you still going to get rid of the two dogs who bring you so much to your life?? you know i think you should keep them. looking forward to your correspondence!! take care, LL

What a beautiful place to live! I’ve never been to Tulsa. Although the my favorite picture is the last one.

April – LOL!
It really does look beautiful Dominique. I was born in Portland Maine and we lived about 4 minutes from the ocean. It was my favorite place to be but I was an army brat and so it did not last living there. I have been trying to get back to the ocean since, to live that is and it has not been easy as my heart longs for it. We almost moved there once but that’s a long story.
Thanks for sharing your view with us.
People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within.

Kimberly – Portland, Maine! I went to high school at Wells High in Wells, Maine. My daughter worked in Portland for quite a while! It is such a small world, isn’t ! Wow! Portland, Maine. Who would have thunk it! (Okay, bad grammar alert! LOL)
Holy Beautiful Dominique!
I wish I had a view like that! Instead I look across the street to another broken down apartment building.
I’ll live vicariously through you on that one
Annie – LOL! Oh my gosh! That would be a site Annie! You are most welcome to my view!
Absolutely beautiful view!

Nancy –
Such a beautiful view and it even changes different times of day.
Do you have a ground level apartment? Just thinking again
of the pugs. If you have a patio door out to a small patio
you could inexpensively fence in that small area and you could
sit inside and watch while they did their thing. Every time
I think of something I know you are so smart that my suggestions
probably don’t matter as you thought of it yourself.
Patricia – No. I live on the second floor for security reasons. Actually, I have a family coming to see the pugs tomorrow. If they are a good match, then the pugs will have a new home. I have this incredible peace about it. I think it’s going to be okay. And they will be very happy if it is a good match.
I hope and pray that they will be the right family. Your love for
them is so wonderful. I find on bad days I convince myself no more
dogs. On a better day I think I can handle it. One concern is
my age – 62 – I would have to be sure my daughter would adopt the
doggie if need be. My parents adopted two Brussel Griffons (like
the little dog in the movie ” As good as it gets”) They had them
for eight years and I had them for the rest of their little lives -
for six years. I miss them, but three dogs would be entirely crazy
now. May God bless you with abundant peace in this decision.
Patricia – I have been going back and forth on my decision the past year exactly as you stated. When I feel good, I am more able but when I don’t feel good, I am really struggling. I totally understand that place.
Thank you for you wonderful comment!
I hope you are having a great day!
