"The Eagle Has Crashed"

Book Review: The Eagle Has Crashed by Ted Lacksonen

I recently had a friend ask me to read his new book, The Eagle Has Crashed, and I quickly said yes!  Ted has been someone who has been helping me to think outside the box when it comes to the plight of America and politics in general.  I respect his opinion deeply and was excited and honored to...

Choosing to stand…

I just received word that my father is out of surgery and is stable.  Thank you God!

His vital signs are all good.  The nurse told me she was currently trying to get his pain level under control, but again everything else looked good post surgery.

Unfortunately, not all the news was good…

The mass in his lung was determined to be cancer so the doctor had to remove his lymph nodes as well.  We are now waiting to find out if the cancer has metastasized to his lymphatic system.  If it has,  chemo and radiation will be the next step.

This is not the news I was hoping for, but despite that, I still believe that anything is possible.  So I will continue praying.  Until the doctors report comes back and says the cancer has spread to his lymph nodes, anything is possible.   And even after that, anything is still possible.  I believe that to my core.

As the saying goes, when all else fails, stand!

The scary thing for me is that my dad felt he had cancer, so to find out he does  is a little discombobulating to say the least.

I do have much to be thankful for in spite of this difficult news, however.  You see, my dad and I have never gotten along very well.  It wasn’t until these past two (2) years that God rebuilt that bridge and created a way for us to build some really great memories.  I am so thankful for that.

My dad is a really great guy.  He served in the Navy for four years and the Air Force for 22 years.  I got to see the world because he chose to serve and defend this great country of ours.  If you have ever wondered where I get my patriotic passion, you can look at my dad.

Well, I am going to call it a night.  I am really exhausted and need to have some quiet time and rest.

Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers, and incredibly kind words.  There isn’t a day that I don’t come here and find a comment that encourages me, inspires me, and empowers me.  You all are the greatest ‘family’ a gal could ask for!

Determined to continue forward,

So glad to hear your Dad came through his surgery well but sorry the news was cancer. We’ve dealt with so much cancer in our family – I do have some idea what you’re going through.

I hope the next bit of news is good. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

Sending warm thoughts and positive prayers for you and your Dad. Cancer has deeply impacted our family, more than once, and I can remember the emotions of those very difficult times :(

I’m glad to hear that you are making sure to get some quiet time too, as this will benefit both you and your Dad, by remembering to take care of yourself too!

Lots of love and (((gentle hugs)))

Lillie – I am praying and believing for a good report on the lymph nodes as well. My sister told me tonight that the doctor doesn’t think the lymph nodes are cancerous. That works for me!

Thank you for your kind words and prayers.

    Hang in there, Dominique!

Cancer isn’t the automatic death sentence it once was with advancements in medical technologies helping to change that perception. Besides, God may have other plans in mind….

    Prayers coming!

There is always hope. I pray to the Lord your dad’s protection
after surgery that the cancer has not spread to the lymph nodes.
I also had a difficult relationship with my dad – differences
in personality – took me a long time to understand him. My dad was
a Marine in WWII when he was just a “kid” and I was fortunate he
came home all in one peace. I also
have the blessing of reconnecting with him in the latter years of
his life. He became a hugger and was able to tell me verbally
that he loves me. I also have assurance that he trusted in the Lord
for salvation. I hope and pray that your Dad is at peace with God.

    • Dominique April 23, 2010 at 10:45 pm

Patricia – My dad is at peace with God. I’m so glad that things worked out with your dad. Relationships are so difficult sometimes and yet they are so important!

Have a wonderful weekend my friend! Hugs.

Vickie … or is it Dominique! ha ha – Now that is a name I never dreamed of seeing on my blog! Hello dear friend!

Thanks Vickie and I will. I have been calling and leaving messages with the receptionists but have not updated since he went home. I actually need to call my parents and see how things are going. Then … I will let you know! :-)
