"The Eagle Has Crashed"

Book Review: The Eagle Has Crashed by Ted Lacksonen

I recently had a friend ask me to read his new book, The Eagle Has Crashed, and I quickly said yes!  Ted has been someone who has been helping me to think outside the box when it comes to the plight of America and politics in general.  I respect his opinion deeply and was excited and honored to...

I’ve waited for a lifetime for this moment

When the fiasco with my laptop happened, the company wiped out my budget and my checkbook.  Needless to say, trying to remember everything that was in my checkbook was impossible and I forgot three very important payments.  And I got to pay dearly for that oversight.  $295.05 to be exact!  What’s a girl gonna do?

I spent about 10 hours on Sunday rebuilding my budget.  It took me several years to develop a budget in excel that makes sense in my brain and that keeps me on target with my bills and goals.  Needless to say, a $300.00 mistake couldn’t of happened at a worse time as I still have $3,200.00 left to pay on the wedding reception.  I will be able to pull it all off, however…things are going to be very tight for the next three-plus months.

Anyway, I thought I would share with you a quick peak of one of the things my daughter wanted to add to really make the wedding reception extra special.  We always had determined that she would cover the chairs, but Rachael decided she wanted to drape the cake table and head table and also add lights to add some something extra and unique.  The result will be stunning!   Here is a photo so you can see get an idea of the transformation!

1.  This is what the her head table will look like minus the canopy back drop.  Also, Rachael will have the head table you see here, but it will be on a riser (love that) and then she will have the attendants table (all 12) on the floor in front of the Head table.

2.  This photo is what all the tables will look like together, except again, that Rachael’s head table will be on a riser with her attendant table on the floor in front.  The cake table will be brought out on the floor right after the salad.  [I know odd, but we had to work it that way to work out some other details]  Lastly, you will not be able to see the walls and what is on them [that is my understanding] because the DJ will be putting pink up-lights around the room flooding the room and walls with a pink glow.  All the linen will be champagne on champagne like you see here.  We haven’t decided on the napkins – whether they will be champagne as well [I think we are leaning that way] or pink.

Is that going to be spectacular or what?  I love evening weddings!  They are so elegant and glamorous!  Would you like to see my dress!  Ha!  Thought so!  I’m torn between these two.

Or this one.

Oh!  But I’m not done!  I have my shoes!  I actually didn’t realize it, but I already had them.  I bought them 3 years ago and have been waiting for an opportunity to use them.  Here they are.

Is that not a perfect match?  Who would have thought?

Okay…I guess I’m getting a little excited!  he he!   The truth is, however, I have waited a lifetime for this day and now it is here.  I can’t wait! It is going to be a magical day …  one I have been waiting to give to my daughter since the day she was born!

P.S. Joleen, does that help you in designing my necklace?!

Determined to continue forward,

I LOVE those dresses! And that is one of my favorite colors as well! Just know that the first dress you cannot wear a necklace with (but you can wear earrings and a SPARKLY bracelet)… the second one you can wear a full set!
Also, are you going to have a shawl of some sort for your shoulders in the evening? ;) You have to let me know, because if you do, I might have another idea….
You will be BEAUTIFUL.. and so will your daughter.. and the reception is going to be GORGEOUS!!
Makes me want to do it all over again…. but I think the next time I get married, it might be on a beach somewhere in my bathing suit ;)
    XOXOXO

Jolene – I am planning on wearing one of those light see-though shawls.

LOL! I like that idea! A Beach, bathing suit, and buff dude!

Wow you are doing the wedding big time! It is beautiful. I
hope and pray you will be feelig your very best.
So sorry about the late fees due to your laptop fiasco.
My computer (dail up) and my skills (very few) means
I would never do my budget/finances on a computer.
I keep seeing on my bill envlopes a nudge about going
paperless. Boy if that becomes the only option I’d be
    in hot water.

Patricia – I actually love paying my bills online and being paperless. The lesson I learned thought is to make a hard copy of my budget. At least then I can remake it if needed.

Yes, I think it will be beautiful. You know what is amazing though. Her wedding will cost just a little more than mine did in 1989. Is that not amazing!

WOW Dominique, I want to get married again just to sit at a head table like that! Absolutely beautiful! I know you didnt ask but I like dress one. It is beautiful and the way it is designed it looks like you would not need to deal with the tugging of shoulder straps all night long if they fall.

Kimberly – I like dress one to. That is my favorite. But … I need to make sure it will look okay on me. I don’t weight 120 pounds anymore, so…

Wow! This wedding is going to be breath taking! Absolutely stunning! I love both dresses and the shoes. You will look gorgeous! I can’t wait to see pictures!

    • Dominique April 29, 2010 at 12:24 pm

Nancy – Pictures? Of me? Oh no! I hadn’t thought of that! I have to make sure I look good first! Ha ha
