April 2012 ME Story: Laura Lipscombe

I almost missed this month's story.  I had so much going on I didn't realize today is the 12th of the month and a new Becoming VISIBLE 4ME story is up. That would have been a real shame, because this month's story, by Laura Lipscombe, is really impacting. Many of the feelings and situations...

My butt?

I’m assuming most of my readers have never sighted a gun, so I will explain what that means.

In order to shoot your target – and hit it – if your are using a scope, you have to sight it, which basically means you have to calibrate it so that the bullet will go straight.  I had to learn how to do this in basic training and learned real quick what happens when…

your gun is not sighted.  My first time out, I got a perfect score .. on the target of the soldier to my right!  LOL!  Once I fixed my gun, I was able to hit my target with much more precision!  :-)

You’re probably wondering why in the world I am bringing this up, here!  Well, today, my body has been responding like a gun that isn’t sighted properly.  Every time I went to grab a glass or some other object I would knock it over or miss it by inches!  That is so tiring and frustrating.

In addition, I think my brain was also mis-calibrated.  I was trying to send a text message to a friend on my new Blackberry (which I got for free – love that!) and I was staring at the send button and trying to remember just exactly what that was for.  When I finally remembered, then I had to figure out how to use the send button!

Hello.  I do this every day!  Holy Cow it is amazing to me that one minute I recall things perfectly.  The next minute that ability is gone! Poof!  Amazing!

In addition, yesterday, Dekker and I went down to the Wooden Bridge you all loved so much in the photos I posted here.   I wanted to take more pictures, but Dekker and I enjoyed our walk so much that we actually went a little farther then I had intended.

On the way back, I thought we would go down to our favorite spot.  There is the rocky cleft that we like to sit on and chill.  Dekker can get off his leash and explore and I can soak up some sun, take photos of the view I love, and lay back and relax.  I thought if we took a small break I could recover from our ‘lengthier-than-I-had-planned’ walk.

So about a half hour later, we decided to head home, but I forgot that this small hill had a good incline and I would have to climb up it this time.  Luckily Dekker helped by pulling me as I struggled back up.   Mind you, this is a slight incline.  Nothing drastic, but it was a challenge for me especially after walking too far.

Anyway, we went home and I rested for the rest of the day and even went to bed early.  Today, I was tired which was to be expected.  The brain dysfunction I hadn’t anticipated, but not a surprise.  My body was achy and stiff – that too was normal, considering.  But … I had pain in only one place on my body … my butt.  Yup.  You read that right.

My butt has been hurting all day!  I feel like I did 100 squats yesterday.  I’m walking like a duck!   :-)   Hey if I can’t have a sense of humor when my butt cheeks hurt, what am I gonna do!?

Well, I ended this obviously bizarre day by taking a luxurious eucalyptus bath.  At least my butt isn’t quite as sore now.  LOL!  If the shrinking of my butt size was equivalent to the amount of pain I have had all day, at least THAT would make it worth it!  ha ha

Well, as a side note, my father is at home.  The doctor let him go home on Wednesday (I believe) and my sister emailed me and told me he was doing dramatically better at home.  I can understand that completely.  I don’t like hospitals nowadays.  I don’t think my dad was overly impressed either.

Anyway, we are just now awaiting the test results on the lymph nodes.  For the time being, my dad will be taking the next 6-8 to recover from his surgery.  They ended up taking almost half of his right lung, so I’m sure it will take a little time.  I am so thankful that he pulled through and is doing so well.  God is good.

Okay, now to take another bath.  My butt is hurting again!

Determined to continue forward,

Oh my goodness, I needed this giggle! I know what you mean about the buttock cramp. I spent one afternoon throwing balls down the hall for my cat Sophie. I would bend down a little to make them fly across the tiles. The next two days my behind was so sore just from the slight bending. I too thought it was pathetic that it was not from a rigorous Jane Fonda (remember her? haha) workout.

By the way, I loved your post yesterday about the wedding reception area. Just lovely! I really like the lighting under the table cloths, so elegant. The dresses are both gorgeous, so that will be a hard pick. Sounds like everything is coming together very nicely.

Hope your day is better after another tub soak.

Hey, your post made me smile, made me envious of your nature walk, made me rejoice that your dad is doing well and hope to recover. Nothing like home to make a person relax!
Hope your posterior soon stops hurting….
