"The Eagle Has Crashed"

Book Review: The Eagle Has Crashed by Ted Lacksonen

I recently had a friend ask me to read his new book, The Eagle Has Crashed, and I quickly said yes!  Ted has been someone who has been helping me to think outside the box when it comes to the plight of America and politics in general.  I respect his opinion deeply and was excited and honored to...

21 things I’m thankful for, TODAY…

After a long, hard week with many, many challenges, I am choosing today to focus on things I am thankful for, today.  So here goes….

1.  The companionship of my adorable,  little black pug, Dekker Black.

2.  A good book to read.

3.  Sunshine and lost of light.

4.  A burst of energy for a couple of hours that enabled me to get my apartment clean.

5.  Hot days which mean lying out by the pool, thus, something new to do!

6.  Beach towels that cover my bed and keep Dekker’s hair out of my linens.

7.  A good, hot  cup of British Tea – PG Tips – of course!

8.  Blogging 4 books – so I have even more books to read. Aiming to cover two walls in my apartment, from ceiling to floor, with nothing but books.  How glorious that will be!

9.  A good friend who sent me her copy of Ted Dekkers’ newest book.

10.  The smell of ‘clean’ – love that.

11.  Tiger Balm – that helps me get rid of my headaches and soothes my sore and painful muscles – especially the rub formula.

12.  Heating pad -  heat for a sore and achy back.

13.  Neck roll – which is heat-able – love, love, love that!

14.  Netflix – for providing me with hours of entertainment, laughter, and reflection.

15.  Photographs – I have tons of photos all around me.  My favorites are of Rachael and Alyssa.

16.  My deck – I sit above it all on my deck and watch the world busily go about its business.

17.  Count down to my daughter’s wedding – 98 days!.

18.  Internet – for the ability to stay in touch, to touch others, and to be touched.

19.  Quote – I have one quote that is ‘front and center’ on my TV armoire so I see it every moment of every day.  “PERSEVERANCE:  The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming!”

20.  Central air and floor fans – pushing 90 here is Tulsa and that’s a little warm!

21.  My dad’s clean bill of heath!

What are you thankful for today?

Determined to continue forward,

I am thankful I found Jesus because without Him I would have nothing to be thankful for.

Jerry – :-) BTW – How did you find my blog?

  • April May 24, 2010 at 12:05 am

    Hi Dom!

Thanks so much for stopping by my blog to say hi. It means so much to me. I love your list, but of course, there’s something WRONG with it…PG Tips? I am a Twinnings girl all the way, and not the American Twinnings tea, but the English Twinnings. We should sit together and have a good cuppa. I visited London after I graduated college and got stuck on good English tea. It makes Lipton taste like dust in comparison.

But seriously, thanks for the list. It’s a good reminder that I need to make my own. Maybe I’ll post it later this week. Hugs and lots of love!

    :) April

April – I so love it when I see your picture here! Hey, I’m okay with Twinnings – the British version of course! We can do a cup of tea together! LOL! I so agree about the comparison between American/British tea. I think people think I’m snobby sometimes because I do British Tea only but, for me, they are hands down the best at tea!

I’ve missed you! I will be looking out for your list! Hugs!

    Dominique,

It’s good to remember the things we have to be thankful for in the midst of so many things not to be thankful for … the Bible tells us to be thankful in all things.

Lillie – Yes it is. I often find I need to remind myself of all the things I have to be thankful for. I have so much more than so many people in this world today. :-)

It felt so good to read your grateful list today! I started off reading about the UK CFS negative movement and just couldn’t go there today, scrolled down and found your list–aaaaaaa–what a lovely read. Your Dekker is one loved critter and I imagine he gives it all right back to ya.

Today I am grateful that I was able to clean our little powder room (half bath) with my grandbaby in her bouncy seat watching me. Grateful for my hubby who drove me and helped me talk to the bakery and order my daughter a pretty graduation cake. Grateful to be online today. Its been a good day!
