Monday night a friend of mine came by and graciously took me to the library so I could get some books, videos and a book on CD (my first) and on our way back we stopped by QuikTrip which is an awesome gas station here in the south.
Anyway, I was going to grab a hot dog because I was hungry when a women decided she needed it more!
So…
my friend suggested I try this spicy chicken stick thing. I got two of them. I only ate one as it really wasn’t my thing. I can’t even describe ‘what’ it was except that it was supposed to be chicken and it tasted like chicken but after eating farm fresh food it was too processed for me so one was all I could get down. I ate the one and didn’t give it another thought.
I was trying to help Amy out on her blog, Scribe, Ink., today and actually left her high and dry without a word because it became so bad that if you had given me a pair of scissors, I think I would have cut myself out of my body.
Tuesday, however, I spent the day going out of my mind. I was itching everywhere. In addition, the spiders came back and they were every where! As if that wasn’t enough, my balance has been off like I’m one of those tops children play with and I just teeter to the left or right every once in a while. Add to that, the vibratorsomeone stuck in my brain and body and lets just say is was a very challenging day. Yikes!
So I took a six (6) hour break and watched movies and tried to calm my body down but it really wasn’t working. Then all of a sudden I noticed my upper lip was itching and swelling and my right eye kept twitching and I started thinking,
What have I done different yesterday that would make me go over the edge like this today?
And then I remembered. That chicken, hot-dog-looking thing I ate. Sigh…
Today, I have pretty much decided that after the wedding is over I am going to move. The noise level here now is just too much. I would not call this quiet anymore. And in my section of the building there is only me and my neighbor across the hall left as everyone is moving out because of mold.
I just took a benedryl to calm things down but I’m pretty sure there was some chemical in that thing that I reacted to. I should know better but I was hungry.
Also, this time around (I lived here 2 years ago when it was an A+ complex) the complex has started cleaning the hallways (outside) with those oil/gas run blowers and every time my apartment ends up getting filled with fumes. Today, I almost threw up it was so overwhelming. It doesn’t last long, but while it’s there, it’s bad.
I, also, sent off a second email to the apartment management office today asking for things I have already requested to be repaired as well as letting them know about several sink holes that have developed. I thought I would let you see just how big some of these are.
As you can see towards the bottom left of the photo, the sidewalk is now starting to crack. What you can’t see is that this sink hole goes underneath the foundation of the building in front of mine!
And here is another one!
Anyway, I looked around today at other apartments and found four that I liked. My favorite is a contemporary loft with wood floors overlooking the city on the south side of Tulsa. It’s in the middle of shopping, restaurants, movies, everything so I could easily get to and fro plus there would be many more places that deliver. Here we only have like…two I think.
So that is where I am today. I am going to spend today resting and writing my column, but that’s it. After the column is done and sent to Ayo, I’m going to be resting for the rest of the week.
I did want to share one other thing with you, however. When I moved here in 1996, the incredible sunsets were the first things I saw and to this day, are one of my favorite things about Oklahoma. These are some I took on Sunday or Monday night of this week.
My apologies for the theme change, yet again. I came to my blog twice yesterday and the theme (the orange one) wasn’t working. It actually threw 17 of my post into the trash! Yikes.
So I had to find a new theme and tweak it. This one should be good for a while because it comes with 6 color choices so when I’m ready for something new, the layout doesn’t change just the color. And I can add my own header to this which I will do at some point.
I’d be interested to know what you think of this one. I actually think I like it even more than the orange one. Hmmmm….

Sorry to hear you are having so many problems. I would like to share something with you. I knew a man who lived in Sweden and when he came to America for 2 weeks he was very sick from the food. He went back home and came back again for a couple of months and again he became very sick. What we dont notice is how sick our food makes u. Our bodies have built a tolerance to all of the chemicals in our food and when we do a good cleansing and change our eating habits and go more natural to go back to anything other than natural will most often cause our bodies to go haywire.
As for your appartment, its a shame the owner is not more attentive to the things that need fixing around there. It seems this is happening more and more as we have less and less money and we already know that is not going to get better any time soon.
Hope things get brighter for you.
Peace and Light
Kimberly – Actually, my mom is from Paris and she always says the same thing. She does so much better physically when she goes back to France than she does here. I have no doubt that our food and our air and what not are contaminated. That is why I changed to farm fresh food and herbs.
I am working on a brighter day, thanks. I actually like that visual – a brighter day! Good one!
Hi Dominique…..
First of all, I am so sorry this happened to you, BUT as an observer I find it very interesting that your neurological symptoms get worse when you are reacting to a chemical…in your body AND I would assume in the air… It is informative for me too as I have wondered about that for myself.
Second….I am relieved to hear you are moving. It is scary to think what the mold is doing to your body…and I would think it plays a huge part in you being worse this year and your fast reactions to things. The loft sounds great doesn’t it~!
Third…..It is so great you are “writing a column”…how cool is that…to even be able to say it! You go girl!!
Fourth….I did not realize it until you switched, but your present colors are very soothing to the eye and much easier for me to read without feeling agitatedd…Color has been bothering me for some time lately and reading white print also does this…
Fifth…..Have a good rest…you will be in my prayers…
Renee´s last [type] ..Welcome vsUnwelcome Guests
Renee – Thank you. White bothers you as well? Hmmmm…. That’s interesting because white walls or white pages bother me as well. I am finding greys seem to be best for me. I’m still having problems with the blog so I may be changing it again. BUT, I will lean toward the greys and such colors.
Hi Dominique. I like the grey. It’s the easiest background for me to read on. I’m sorry about the reaction to the chicken. You were right to take a benedryl. Even if it has side effects, it can stop an allergic reaction from going systemic, even affecting your ability to breath. A doctor once told me: when in doubt, take a benedryl.
I love your idea of moving to an apartment that’s right in the middle of so many services.
Rest up now and we’ll wait for you to return!
Hugs.
Toni – Oops – It’s gone! My blog crashed and so I have been trying to find a theme that worked and I finally found this ONE! Thanks Toni. I’m going to get out of the house tomorrow. I think maybe getting away from the apartment for a few hours might give me much needed break.
I find this theme calming and soothing…I give it my vote.
Sounds like you’ve been overwhelmed by chemicals, stimulation etc… The “chicken” sounds awful! The woman who took the last hot dog, wonder if she fared better.
I’m feeling a bit “topsy turvy” myself today, (you described what it feels like well). Yesterday held too much-chemicals, exertion etc… We can’t take much to our CNS’s can we? OVERWHELM sets in quickly.
Happy resting and writing today Dom, Kerry
Moving sounds like a good idea for your health (as long as you have physical help doing so). The views you have are beautiful and have to be tough to think of leaving behind.
Kerry´s last [type] ..Vertical in the Midst
Kerry – Ha ha! You always make laugh, Kerry! Oh my gosh! I hope so ’cause that was MY hot dog! LOL!
Well, actually, I will give up the water view (which will be hard) for views of the whole city. But I can’t take much more of this over sensitivity. I’m ready to move beyond this.
I was thinking of that movie with the penguins and the waddle back and forth…it made me think of that toy – the top – I used to play with as a kid!
I hope you are doing a little better today Kerry. I’ll cheer you on if you keep cheering me on, okay!
Hi, Dominique!
Sorry to hear you’re having such a rough week, due to such a minor misstep. I’ve been trying to contact you about maybe getting together tomorrow when we come through Tulsa, if you’re feeling up to it. No pressure! You know I will understand if you can’t.
I left a couple of messages on your cell (because my CFIDS brain made me think I left the wrong number!), so just give me a call today or tomorrow morning if you feel up to a quick lunch with us.
The modern loft with wood floors sounds awesome!
Sue
(P.S. Anti-spam math – how cool! I hope I got it right)
Sue Jackson´s last [type] ..A Full Day
Sue – I can’t wait to do lunch. One, I NEED to get out of my apartment. It’s been weeks. Two, I am craving Chinese. THREE, I get to meet you! LOL! and FOUR, I get away from whatever is bothering me in my apartment. I’ll see you at 11ish God willing!
Oh! You were the stalker that was calling me over and over! he he
I like the loft idea too. I tend to lean heavily towards clean, simple and contemporary.
LOL! I wonder how many of us would pass a math and catcha test if we were ever given one! Ha!
Dominique You always surprise me. I\”m so sorry that icky chicken made
you sick. I thought the mold problem was fixed. I know you love the
wild life and view from this apartment; but I hope you will be even happier
in a healthy apartment with all those services near by. The white background
is quite bright. I vote too for gray- a softer color for the eyes. The only
problem with this new format is it is so BIG. It doesn\’t all fit on my screen.
I have to scroll over to see other stuff like links to other blogs, etc. But
leaving resonses is working I hope. I don’t understand the click on the picture
to har an audio file of the equation part. So here goes I clicked on it and
up came a long list of music. The download file ID your blog and I clicked
on open and then I saw a bunch of music to click on. Oh boy I’m locked out.
because if I close the list of music and come back here and click on post
it gives me a error message and tells me to copy my post in case it gets wiped out?
Renee figured it out. What is the matter with me?
Patricia – If I didn’t surprise you, it would get kinda boring don’t you think!
That’s for people who can’t read the math or have trouble reading/seeing. You don’t need to worry about that!
It may not have been you Patricia. My blog crashed earlier and I had to rebuild parts of it. So you may have tried that while I was repairing something.
THREE TRIES AND I GUESS I\’VE GOT IT. YOU CAN TELL HOW
MOTIVATED I AM NOT TO LOSE TOUCH WITH YOU.
GOD BLESS YOU AND I HOPE YOU CAN FIND THE BEST POSSIBLE\\
APARTMENT. MOVING WITH THE WEDDING COMING UP SO
SOON – YOU SURE WILL BE IN MY PRAYERS. OR ARE YOU GOING
TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER THE WEDDING. I\’M AM PRAYING OFTEN
FOR YOU TO BE MUCH BETTER AND TO BE ABLE TO TRULY
ENJOY YOUR DAUGHTER\’S SPECIAL DAY. I DON\’T WANT ANYTHING
TO SPOIL IT FOR YOU.
Patricia – Well, I hope this new look works better for you. I was thinking the other day if your computer is really old that may be why you have problems connecting and what not. We are now moving into the BETA stage and so your computer may not like that!
Oh no. I’m sorry. I meant I would move after the wedding. Oh gosh no. Not before. I have a friend and her boyfriend and they have told me they will make sure there are enough people to help me move.
How’s is Sammy doing? I was thinking of him today….
IT IS SILLY PATRICIA AGAIN. I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT BEING BIG
AND HAVING TO SCROLL, BUT AFTER EXPERIMENTING I LIKE
IT. I JUST REACTED WITH WORDS TOO SWIFTLY. I SCROLLED OVER
AND FOUND THE LINKS. THINGS ARE EASIER TO READ
WELL I GUESS I’M ADJUSTED TO YOUR CHANGES!!!! YOU JUST
AMAZE ME WITH ALL YOU GO THROUGH PHYSICALLY YOU
KEEP THIS WONDERFUL PLACE FOR ME TO COME AND VISIT
AND I JUST LOVE IT.
Patricia – You’re not silly! On your computer when you pull up my blog. If it fills your screen, here is a little trick to shrink it down. Hold down the Cntrl Key while you hit the minus key and it will shrink everything down just a hair. You can keep doing that till it is the size you want. If you make it too small, just hold down the Cntrl and the + key together and it will get slightly bigger! Walla!
You are one of the many reasons I do it, Patricia!
Hola, I like the new look, it’s very business like and readable. Black and white is a very high contrast and can be trickier for some readers, although just what is needed for others, but you could experiment with a dark blue text or other colour. Also, for extra readability try a sans-serif font. A general rule of thumb is sans-serif for screen and serif for paper. Again though, this would just be tweaking. If you want to go all nerdy and read up on web accessibility, these are the standards guys – http://www.w3.org/WAI/intro/accessibility
And here’s a Usability guru, Jakob Nielsen – http://www.useit.com/
Looks like you need to get out of your apartment before it falls down! You will miss your lovely view though. Take care of yourself
Jo´s last [type] ..A Setback- or maybe a huge leap forward
Jo – Weird that you would share the accessibility thing with me!? I was going to look into that because I am joining a bloggers unite call for people with disabilities and was just told about a plan to make the web more accessible for those with disabilities.
I saved the links and will read up on it and see how I can contribute and help. I think I will also add links on my blog so if others want to check them out they can.
I will miss my water view BUT I will be getting a peripheral view of all of Tulsa from the new apartment I am looking at. Trade off I guess!
