Changes in body, exercise and weight …

This week I met with my personal trainer who is now taking me to Phase II if you will of my exercise routine and getting my body as healthy as possible.

With some recent tweaking of my diet by my nutrionalist, I am now only 21 pounds away from having lost a total of 100 pounds!  Just reading that is startling.

With my exercise I am now cutting back on my cardio and not doing more than an hour a day except on those days where I just want to do a 8-10 mile walk because I enjoy it.

We have now reduced my egoscue exercise to 6 because in 65 days half of my muscular structure problems have been resolved.  Incredible!  In addition, I very rarely have pain now and I’m no longer taking the Phenocane to control my pain.

I am upping the egoscue exercises to 5 days a week along with my beloved Yoga.  I love Rodney Yee’s Hip Opener series and have been doing it for a few weeks along with his Yoga Abs for beginners.  I’m actually thinking I might need to advance on the Ab one because I’m getting bored which usually means it is becoming easy to do.  Hmmmm…

In addition to those things I am now weight training upper and lower body.  I was all smiles and grins when I was running through my routine for the first time.  Having the bars in my hands, or the press under my feet was an incredible high.  It has been over 15 years!  And I had no PENE nor Pain.  My body actually felt stretched out and slightly pushed.  Of course, we are starting out slow with 1 set of 10 reps at 25-40 pounds but still, it is progress.

In addition, I have been introduced to the rowing machine.  I have always harbored a secret desire to row and the minute I sat on this machine and pulled back, I knew I had found a new love.

I am also doing the recumbent bicycle as well.  Funnily, I’m not overly excited about it!  But I get a good workout on my legs that is easy on my knees and back so that is beneficial.

I am now drinking more Amazing Grass as I take it before a workout and after a workout and I know work out twice a day.  If I knew 10 or 20 years ago that Amazing Grass would give my body everything it needed to heal itself, I would have done this earlier. I have no doubt that I will be drinking these Superfood and meal replacements for a long time.

I have recently overhauled my vitamins as well and switched all of them over to Garden of Life’s Raw line.  I love it.  I take less pills but they seem to have more of an impact on my body.

I’m also off the thyroid herbs I was taking as I don’t seem to need them anymore.

I think the biggest change is my diet.  It is almost all raw now except for snack things and the occasional ice cream and chocolate.

I am still learning to eat out without gluten but that is always a big challenge.  People are so ignorant when it comes to gluten and celiac disease.

Having said all that, I am now wondering if CFS was my correct diagnosis but in the sense of a ‘missed diagnosis’ as Dr. Hyde talks about.  Almost all of my symptoms can be attributed to the celiac disease and/or the toxic poisoning.

I guess I will never truly know since I cannot get the brain scan I need to prove or dis-prove ME.  But it does give me pause.

As a side note, I am excited to be going home to see my daughter, grand-daughter and grand-son in June.  Not only do I feel better, look better, but I am functioning better as well.

My only challenge will be my diet.  Ugh.  :-)

But what is life without challenges, right?

I hope you are seeing improvements in your life today.  If not, hang in there because you never know when your moment will arrive.

Determined to continue forward,

"Red Signature"

dominique, i am again amazed by your resilience. what you can do in your current condition is something i had never been able do even when i was “healthy”. it shows me how strong you once was. and you are certainly on the way to be like that again.
really, diet is so important. after sleep, diet probably is the only important thing during ME condition, because only with right nutrition, our body can do its job – giving us signals about what it needs.
i am recently on the up-road too. not as near as what you doing but, i am happy where i am. i hope by the non-stop diet care and exercise could eventually lead me to a condition that surpasses that sick me even before i was sick.
amazing job you have done! looking forward to hear more good news!

Yun Yi – I’m so glad to hear that you are on the “up road” as well. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Renee – You and me both. If I make it through this winter doing well I think I will finally start feeling like I am “out of the woods.”

It is wonderful to read your progress, its really encouraging & I like reading about the things that are helping you. It must be so exciting! While I haven’t made the improvement you have (or as quickly!) things have been going well for me recently and I’ve been realising that I don’t have any pain after my phsyiotherapy pilates sessions just that normal muscle ‘soreness’ that you get after a good challenging workout. Its so good to feel that!

I’ve also been trying to improve my diet, its fairly healthy but there’s always room for improvement! After reading your story I decided to order a tub of the Amazing Grass. I used to take a green drink years ago & I don’t know whether it helped much but I decided it was time to give it another try. I’ll let you know how it goes!

Miriam – I’m so excited for you! That is absolutely fantastic. Please let me know how you do! I hope everything else in life is finally sorting itself out. We definitely need to catch up by phone when I get back from Boston.

How did you decide what dietary changes to make and what nutritional supplements to take? How did you know what your body needed to feel better?

    1. Dominique says:

Miriam – I just got around to checking my comments and am heading back to Boston but I promise I will answer these two questions in an upcoming post!

Thanks Kathy. It’s been a long hard road but I’m glad to be having better days. How are you doing?

    Hi Dominique!

Been going through your posts, and finally learning about how you’re reconditioned your body. Definitely gonna do more research about Amazing Grass. If you don’t mind me asking, by “toxic poisoning” what exactly are you referring to?

    Onward & always upward,

I was living in a building that had mold and toxic chemicals known to cause permanent brain damage were sprayed into the building while I was in it.
