Do YOU sigh a lot?

I have had several people ask about how I am doing.

Thank you so much for asking and thinking of me!  I am doing better.

My body feels the best it has in a while and I am seeing increases in my energy levels.

Mentally and emotionally I am still struggling.

I think that has to do with being down for so long, as well as, needing to get adjusted by my Chiropractor.  The vertebrae in the top of my neck are so far out of place that I have a constant, dull, pressure-like headache that lingers in the distance, but not so far in the distance that it doesn’t affect my cognitive abilities.  It’s like trying to think through a big, ball of sticky cotton candy.  I can remember that I remember the fact I am searching for, but I just can’t seem to pull it though.  It gets stuck somewhere along the way.

I also think I am a little melancholy today because my black pug, Dekker Black, spent the past two days at the Vet.  Sunday night, his stomach swelled up and he started drooling uncontrollably and wasn’t breathing normal.  So I spent a night without him here last night.  It is very, very rare for my dogs and I to spend time apart like that.  Anyway, I was concerned about what might be going on with my cute, ‘funny face’ and I think I got a little worn out.

It turned out to be nothing more than a really bad upset stomach so I was able to pick  him up tonight and bring him home.  However, I had to give him a bath because he stunk to kingdom come!  Ewww.  And I don’t like bad smells.  I just can’t stomach them anymore.  Especially since I have practically sterilized my apartment!

Anyway, I noticed after I gave him his bath and as I was  drying him, I kept sighing.   I don’t know if you do that, but I sigh a lot.  I do it  so much so that I have had people comment on it.  Can you imagine!  Dominique, why are you sighing!  How do you explain that one!  LOL!~  :-)

I never have been able to answer that one, although, I recently read an article by Dr. Paul Cheney in which he noted that it is a symptom that CFIDS patients do mention a lot.  I also have read that it is a possible indicator that one is deficient in magnesium.  The odd thing is I take magnesium and I still find myself sighing a lot.  Weird.

Tomorrow is going to be a long day.  I have an appointment with my Chiropractor and I need to do the dreaded deed – grocery shopping!  I really hate grocery shopping, but it’s that or I don’t eat for the rest of the month!  At least when I get it done I don’t have to go back for another two weeks.

Maybe this time I can lay down while I am waiting in line!  You think they would let me do that?

Determined to continue forward,

My boss says he can always tell when I am upset about something because he hears me sigh. I think it’s a release valve that keeps me from blowing a gasket.

I used to sigh a lot when I battled depression, something that I wrestled with a lot as a teenager and then as a young man. But I also believe that sighing can be some sort of release, as Larry mentioned, a way to let off steam without jack slapping someone!

BTW, to answer an earlier comment of yours, my blogs are all via WordPress. I’ve had some problems with one or two lately which may explain why they weren’t recognized as such. All clear right now.

I have heard this said of people with CFS/ME also. Sighing is something that helps our bodies somehow?

Renee – I have always wondered. I know I do it a lot. It feels like my body is just struggling to do what I am trying to do so I sigh. Maybe I should do some research on it and see what is the cause.

I read the article The Spoon Theory. Thought it was so good
and saw also I can’t copy it without permission. I could
not figure out how to e-mail to get permission. I would
like a copy for myself and one for a close friend.
I clicked on whatever and went to a place selling The Spoon Theory
posters which I can’t afford. Do you know how I can get permission
to print out two copies from my computer. If it isn’t to much
trouble and you know the answer could you e-mail me as once
I leave I have difficulty remembering where to look for your response.
Totally understand if this is too much wear and tear on you.
Duh – I just scrolled up and noticed the title was “Do you Sigh A lot”
now all I need to do is write that down in my “Brain Notebook”
and I can come back and see if you were able to tell me.

Patricia – I will have to check that out because I don’t know. I know the woman who created the theory has Lupus and maybe that is how she derives income. I will let you know when I find out.N

That is ok – hope you see this first. I react too quickly sometimes.
Don’t waste your energy with my request about the spoon article. I already tought of
a similar way to explain the extreme/limited energy.

I save coins in a jar. The jar = my body. The coins my energy
budget. If you take out a coin to go out to do a brief
errand – that’s it for the budget for the day. Get the idea–
just coins instead of spoons. I have often thought that way
I not only have to live on my little financial budget, but I
have to live on my little energy budget. To use up all the coins
too fast – well the jar is empty – and who knows when it is going
to be replenished. Not explained as well the the spoon example.
Just save your spoons and no need to answer my question. Sorry
    I “spoke” before I thought.
