"The Eagle Has Crashed"

Book Review: The Eagle Has Crashed by Ted Lacksonen

I recently had a friend ask me to read his new book, The Eagle Has Crashed, and I quickly said yes!  Ted has been someone who has been helping me to think outside the box when it comes to the plight of America and politics in general.  I respect his opinion deeply and was excited and honored to...

Wedding and the Promise of Possibility

I finally made it to my friends wedding in Claremore yesterday and as I promised many of you, I am posting the photos here.  Unfortunately I am not in them because the wedding started with out me as I was a little late. But my friend’s wedding went off without any other hitches and was lovely and she and her new husband are quite happy!  It was really nice to see her so happy. My friend did capture one of …

49th Birthday Update

In Oklahoma we always have to be cognizant of the weather.  We never know when a tornado or bad weather is going to creep in and change our plans. Unfortunately, it did just that for my birthday.  After dinner, we had to move inside and there was no room for dancing and the band was just way too loud.  An hour was about all me and my friend could stand. Despite the bad weather though, I had an incredible night …

Defining Progress in Severe ME: Part 2: Living in Black and White

If you had asked me a year ago, ten years ago, or even two decades ago if I ever thought that Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E.) would cause me to flee into the dark, I would have responded with a resounding, “No.” Today, I know that I would have been wrong … very wrong. Since January of 2011 I have been adapting to a life void of color.  It is one that has now become eerily reminiscent to my beloved hobby:  black …

Happy 4th of July!

"4th of July"

I just wanted to take a quick moment and wish all my readers a HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! Also, I want to thank our military and Veterans for thier service!  Without you all, America would not be the great country that it is! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend, even if it is a quiet one.  I will be celebrating with organic hot dogs, organic potato salad and the 4th of July cupcake above. Determined to continue forward, …

A Little Sugar …

"Alyssa at the Zoo for her 2nd Birthday"

What is that old saying? A little sugar helps the medicine go down.  Do you remember that saying? Well, I thought I would post something as far away as possible to chronic illness, relapses, crashes, pain, eye, head, vocal chords, muscles, isolation, M.E. grief, lost  … all of it.   I recieved the above photo from my daughter and the above phrase popped into my brain.  I smiled and thought, A little sugar … hmmmm … Can you believe she …

I could use YOUR help

"white rose"

I  have been working on designing the invisibleawareness.org website and am now on my third re-do!  Unfortunately, that is how my creative juices work.  I do it over and over until I figure out what it is that I want. Well, late last tonight it hit me.  I had this amazing idea.  Just one little problem, however.  I can’t make it happen without your help. What I am trying to do (this rocks) is create a background mural, if you …

to MY little FUNNY FACE

To My Little, Funny Face Though you have lived with me only a few years, Much did abound in picture-perfect memories. That one especially with you and your Kong, A look that said, “Don’t get me wrong.” “To share this with you would be right, but I shall keep it just in spite.” Or that other of you and Bronte, looking into the camera so as to say… “She is my best friend in the world, but, I love you …

One Smart PUG

Okay.  Let me give you some background so I can help you understand why I had to post this today. I am trying to help Dekker understand that he is not allowed on my bed unless my white goose comforter is covered with a blanket or a sheet or something.  Try as I might, he just didn’t seem to be getting the message.  Or at least I didn’t think he was… This is what I witnessed when I finished up …

and the WINNERS are….

Well, the Online Open House Weekend has come and gone and I have now tallied up the results and we have ourselves some lucky winners!  I want to thank each and everyone who came by for sharing the weekend with me. How I chose the winners is like this.  I decided to give my photograph of the Bridge to the first person who signed up.  I decided to give the jewelry by Jolene of Graceful Agony, to the last person …

ONLINE OPEN HOUSE WEEKEND/SUNDAY!

Well, now on to the second day of my ONLINE HOUSE WARMING PARTY!  Woo Hoo!  I tried and tried to upload the videos I did but to no avail.  WordPress apparently does not like my Blackberry security and so the uploads would fail every time.    It would have been so cool if it had worked because I was able to add a voice over and even a little intro with me on it.  But not to be … at …

The Long Road Home – Part Four

Well, there is always an end to every story and this one has a beautiful ending!  The first two days I was here, I really struggled with all the loss, however, once I acknowledged the loss and came to terms with it, I was finally able to move forward.  And did I ever! I have to say, I already love it here.  The view withstanding, the office people and maintenance people are unbelievably nice! Today…

The Long Road Home – Part two

Well, as you know, I flew out to Massachusetts.  That is something I will never do in the future again!  I had breathing problems on both flights and had to use my emergency inhaler like it was oxygen!  I cannot tell you how awful it feels to be…

The Long Road Home – Part One

Well … where do I start!?  So much has happened since I last wrote 5+weeks ago.  There is just no way I could tell you everything that has transpired in those five weeks, plus some of it, I don’t feel it would be appropriate t0 share here.  Having said that, however, I can share the highlights with you! The wedding itself …

Humidity is most definitely not my friend

This week we (Oklahomans) are going to be experiencing over 105 – 115 degree weather.  The doctor at the VA that originally told me that my lungs had been permanently damaged warned me that the humidity would not be my friend.  I don’t think I really understood that statement until today. I have been having to…

A week in photos

This week just couldn’t end with mold, it had to end with a bang … fleas!   (Thanks to a neighbors dog … )   Well, no matter, because I am choosing to move through this week and forward! I don’t know about you, but my mind, heart and soul could use some soothing.  Photography has that affect on me.  Here are some of my shots that I took this week, as well as…

De-stressing with photography

This week has been a really odd week. I have not had one day where I accomplished my goals.  In addition, I have been having pain because I need to go see the chiropractor but I can’t afford to do so this month.  With the wedding being just three (3) months away, money is tight.  I also had to up my budget to switch Dekker to a raw diet and put him on his own herbal products.  My word did …

Expressive simplicty in Black and White

They say a picture is worth a thousands words.  Today, I don’t feel like conveying my heart with words … well, not written words, anyway.  I have been playing with my creative side today. You see, I have spent the whole weekend in bed as I ‘hit the wall’ as Joleen so eloquently puts it!  I had a really bad flare-up with the FMS this week but today it started easing and I found myself in an introspective, melancholy mood. …

Why 4Walls and A View?

I thought I would share with you why I named my blog 4Walls and A View.  The obvious part, of course, is the 4Walls which is where a majority of my life takes place.  I was very lucky when I moved back to Tulsa and downsized to a one bedroom.  I was able to get an apartment in my favorite complex which comes with the incredible view that I adore. I also was able to…

Things I cherish

I wanted to thank everyone who has been praying for me and sending words of encouragement.  I think I am on the road to recovery.  The fatigue is better, although, I awoke to severe nausea and dizziness.  That is usually an indication, however, that I am nearing the end of whatever bug or virus I caught. I have always jokingly said that I know I am near the end of a bug because it lands in my stomach.  Usually, I …
